Capital Campaign for Lehman Catholic High School

Immediate Priorities

Facility / Maintenance:

Boilers/HVAC - $572,000

The heating system in the original building is more than fifty years old. The aging equipment is failing. The technology at the time was to bury the steam lines in the floor and nearly all have leaks. Replacing the steam boilers with hot water boilers will enable us to also air condition the rest of the building (the 1997 addition is air conditioned), providing the opportunity for year-round school.

Roofing/Original Building - $161,000

The roof on the original building was replaced in 1985. Preventative maintenance at this time will help to preserve the roof, providing as much as 20 years of additional life.

Asbestos Removal - $343,000

This campaign will provide the funds to remove the existing ceilings containing asbestos in classrooms, as well as in the boiler room (something that will have to be done prior to the installation of new boilers).

Building Security Needs - $155,000

Building security has changed significantly. We need to install additional monitoring cameras, secure the lobby area to prevent unauthorized entry to the rest of the building, and provide keyless entry to the building.

Parking Lot Resurfacing/Curbs - $252,000

The parking lots need resurfacing, and there are some areas where the curb has been damaged. The parking lot was last resurfaced in 1997.

Technology:

Interactive Whiteboard - $119,000

Interactive whiteboards help energize presentations and motivate learners. Combining the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer, the SMART Board interactive whiteboard engages students to a higher level of learning.

Projection Equipment - $30,000

Projectors are designed for both mobile student presenters and faculty for presentations in the classroom or the auditorium.

Wireless Technology & Equipment - $162,000

Wireless technology will allow students and staff to connect to the internet anywhere in the building, without having to search for connectivity.

Computer Hardware and Software - $206,000

Most of the computer hardware and software dates from funds received from The 21st Century Campaign. Wireless notebooks, fixed computer stations, and appropriate software are essential if Lehman students are to keep pace with emerging technology.

Endowment:

Tuition Assistance Endowment - $600,000

These funds will be used to keep Catholic education affordable for all. Scholarships and awards can be established by individuals, families and organizations to benefit the students attending Lehman Catholic High School.

Faculty Endowment - $600,000

These funds will be used for faculty development and retention.

Building Endowment - $300,000

These funds will be used for ongoing maintenance of building.
